It's iimportant to consider manager, Susan Mill's, comment, "Our challenges include finite and few staffing resources and email load with which to deal" and to balance that with member's expectations. May I suggest a member-accessible bulletin board that the member can post messages to (similar to this feedback page).

Think e-mailblasts are o.k. but should be limited to 1 or possibly 2 annually per member. Maybe a specific time ie: spring/fall for a 5 business day period could be established. If these are too time comsuming or difficut to monitor with existing resources for the Chamber, then they should be stopped entirely.

in regards to the email sent with the subject line: Chamber Member Email Blast Freeze In Effect.

a possible solution for member-to-member communication could be a standard weekly newsletter. The newsletter could be emailed out on the same day each week and include information from each event. We are members of many Chambers across the province and some use this type of communication to help control the number of separate messages members receive but still facilitate "getting the word out". Some Chambers put a lot of resources into it with imaging, templates, links, etc while other smaller Chamber just use a standard email format which is a very good solution and makes it easy to use. An idea might be to have a standard form for Chamber Members to fill out to have their event information shared. The form will allow the Chamber Staff to do a simple copy/paste into the newsletter each week without having to rewrite or reformat the information.

Below is a copy of last weeks edition from the Strathroy & District Chamber of Commerce. Everything below in quotations is the title of the event. Typically the title of each topic is in larger font, bold, and underlined however that part didn't show-up in this posting using copy/paste. Hope this helps.

Editor's Note: Due to the length of the copy/paste this has been transferred into an attachment. <a href="http://grandbendtourism.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Jeff-DeGraw-Feedback-Sample.pdf" rel="nofollow">Click here to view</a>.
